A great couple of days training with the wonderful team at The Furnival: such a fantastic sense of #community. As one of their learners said: “Welcome to my home - this is what this place feels like!”
— Anne Smith (Creative English Founder)

In the words of our learners …

“I have learned lots more words and feel more confident speaking English. I enjoy the games and the activities. I feel safe here.”
— Ola
“I improve my language and make friends here. I can bring my small children. I am in a new situation with my family and I find help here, someone to talk to and support me and my family. I feel happy.”

“I speak Arabic and French and when I was at school I learned English for an hour a week but this was not enough for me to learn anything. In the summer of 2017 I came to England to join my husband. When I went shopping I felt very embarrassed because I did not know English. One day I got sick and I could not explain my pain to the doctor; I felt disabled because I live in a country where people speak English but I do not understand anything about it.
I decided to learn this language and good luck I found English lessons taught at The Furnival not far from my home. The truth is that from the first day I entered the school I felt very comfortable. The reason for my comfort is the behaviour of the teacher, her way of welcoming me first and her method of communicating information in all ways (writing, reading, pictures, and physical language).
It enabled me to learn English so that the subjects were useful, purposeful and interesting. The lessons help us to learn the names of parts of the body and knowledge of the specialist areas within the hospitals. The teacher is also keen to give us useful information such as nearby sports activities. Thanks to English at the Furnival I am confident of speaking English and I can express myself and communicate my thoughts to others.
The teacher is also keen to integrate all the girls in a wonderful and comfortable educational atmosphere despite the multi-nationalism.”
